IVORY CHILI SAMPLER is a fun-to-make pieced quilt for the beginner to advanced quilter. The pattern makes three sizes of IVORY CHILI SAMPLER: 53″ x 69″ lap quilt, 27″ x 35″ wall hanging, 13 1/2″ x 17 1/2″ miniature quilt. Whichever size you choose, colorful chilies make this quilt delightful.
Twenty asymmetrical blocks contain 25 chilies, each a little different shape or position, made up entirely of half-square triangles, squares and rectangles. The backgrounds fabrics are shades of off-white, ivory and tan. With block names like “Cozy Up,” “Rojo Grande,” and “Dangle,” the blocks are fun and easy to make.
The blocks are quilted in the ditch. The Chili Poem and 16 Chile Names are hand embroidered, machine quilted, or simply written in Pigma pen.
A Braided Border is made of the background fabrics, plus a few “zinger fabrics” for visual effect. A red 1/2″ binding completes the quilt.
IVORY CHILI SAMPLER is equally dramatic made up in calicoes, tone on tone fabrics or batiks. Foundation piecing is not used. Striped and diagonal fabrics are not suitable.
Total of 60 pages in a 9″ x 12″ plastic bag.
